Black Mountain Adventure have been providing adventure activities to schools, colleges and youth groups for over 30 years and have a long list of satisfied and repeat customers. We offer both Activity Days Out and Residential Courses and are licensed with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) and are a British Canoeing (formerly BCU) approved centre.

We believe in delivering high quality and safe activities, ensuring that children and young adults get the most from their experience here with us. Each activity session gives students the opportunity to learn an unrivalled variety of new skills and abilities, and to recognise and accept their own personal strengths and limitations.

Overview

Outdoor activities is a perfect tool for inspirational learning and with that in mind we have specifically designed courses incorporating a combination of problem solving and team tasks along with adventure activities all of which encourage personal development, with a specific focus on the dynamics of successful teamwork. Our one to five day courses are designed to support Key Stages 2-4 of the National Curriculum using the outdoors as an educational medium.

The aims of our training programs are to:

The health and safety of pupils participating in educational trips and visits is of paramount importance. We pride ourselves on our safety management, which is constantly revised. Our instructors are all qualified and hold current National Qualifications in each of the relevant fields they teach, together with a current First Aid Certificate and are CRB checked. In-house training is provided to all our instructors and assistants along with regular site inspections, undertaken by senior instructors, to ensure that our safety standards are maintained. Equipment used at the centre meets with BSI or UIAA standards and is inspected before and after each activity. Periodic maintenance is carried out on all equipment with records kept at the office.

Our activities are available for either a Half Day or Full Day Session.

Alternatively, we offer Mix ‘N’ Match Days which, are a great way for students and teachers to experience a couple of activities in just one day.
Choosing two activities that we offer you will do one activity in the morning, have a break for lunch and then continue with your second activity choice in the afternoon.

Residentials

Learning through the Outdoors!

Our residential courses are available from two to five days (mid-week only). Courses are all tailor made for each group, allowing us greater flexibility in designing a residential program suited for each groups requirements. All our residential courses include accommodation, evening meals, packed lunches, activities during the day and evening activity sessions.

You will find us based on the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons National Park, where we are provided with a great adventure playground with its mountains, gorges and rivers, making for the ideal outdoor environment for inspirational learning.

Accommodation:
We have a range of accommodation providers located near to our activity centre offering bunk rooms, dining hall and ample grounds for games. Our caterers can prepare meals for a range dietary needs such as vegetarian, celiac etc. All produce is sourced locally where possible and meals prepared fresh each day.

All our courses are designed to encourage personal development, with a specific focus on the dynamics of successful teamwork and above all the positive effects the outdoors has on mental heath of individuals. Our courses are tailored to meet the requirements of the students and the school.
